Second loco on the top-and-tailed Aylesbury Centenary Express on 30th August 1992 is GWR King Class No. 6024 'King Edward I' running on the single track remains of the GW and GC joint line. The route has seen much recent traffic in the form of HS2 construction trains to the virtual quarry at Calvert, but now that work has been completed the section onward from Quainton Rd has been severed by the HS2 alignment and the connection to the preservation centre faces an uncertain future with the formation potentially being required for a possible Aylesbury branch off the restored EW railway from Oxford to Bletchley.
