This long-distance Superliner luxury service is being driven from cab-car No. 8308 along the ocean-side track travelling south towards the end of its journey at San Diego on an unrecorded date in November 2000. The route has diverted round the back of the beach-side town of Del Marchto maintain it comfortable level above the Pacific. The driver has rather limited accommodation in a cubicle off the high-level connecting corridor. At the rear of this heavy train are EMD Class F59PHI Nos. 462 and 463 (visible in an invalid going-away shot). Across the bay, Los Angeles is hidden from view by the well-known smog sitting on top of the metropolis.
