The tank train from Fawley refinery to Thame oil Depot was usually a SR Class 33 job, but occasionally it threw up something different, especially if there was a problem traversing via the WR to the London Midland, with Class 37s and even a Class 52 recorded. On 22nd October 1983 it's the turn of Class 47/0 No. 47008 seen running through a forest of signals on the main line at High Wycombe. Notably in the foreground, the starter signal from the bay platform still has the route indicator mechanism serving the abandoned branch line ahead.
