Rather out of its place in its setting, the Head Office of Wilkinson Sword at High Wycombe looks down on Class 47/4 No. 47556 with the morning departure of the up 'Padd', the last remaining service to Paddington on the old GWR direct line to Birmingham on 26th March 1983. It is seen from an overgrown overbridge above the alignment of the abandoned branch line from Maidenhead - the original Wycombe Railway - which is still climbing out of the Thames Valley, whereas the 'new' main line is also starting its climb over a spur of the Chilterns near Beaconsfield.
