Building developments at Newbury continue apace with recently constructed apartments and penthouses looking down on a scene with the vestiges of the original GWR still evident in the platform awnings. Representing the modern incarnation of the GWR, IET No. 800315 flashes past with the 12:05 London Paddington to Penzance on 11th September 2024. Pantographs are already withdrawn ahead of the swithch to diesel haulage for the rest of the journey.
