Western demise (2) - the final withdrawal of BR Class 52 diesel hydraulics was marked on 26th February 1977 with a special excursion train running out of Paddington. The Western Tribute was preceded by a pair of locos to ensure the smooth running of the day. No. D1048 'Western Lady' and No. D1010 'Western Campaigner' are seen powering through the Slough Trading estate at 08:50 some minutes ahead of the main act. No. D1048 was the last Crewe-built Western to remain in BR service.
