Gone is the GWR footbridge which spanned the tracks over the lead power car of IET No. 802104 as it rushes through Newbury working the 08:15 Penzance to London Paddington on 11th September 2024. However the old platform awnings (much appreciated in the heavy shower imminently arriving) and some of the buildings still survive amidst the rampant development of apartments, business units and a multi-storey car park on the station real estate.
