The crossing box at Bicester London Rd provides a clear view of Class 31/1 No. 31273 with its ECS working from Wolverton works on the freight-only route from Bletchley to Oxford on 2nd October 1978. Much has changed in nearly 50 years with the route seeing passenger services again from Oxford to the Chiltern Line and traffic will step up another level when East West Rail provides through connections to Milton Keynes, Bedford and ultimately Cambridge, restoring the direct Oxford to Cambridge route lost to Beeching in the 1960s.
