Diversion day sees all the S Wales services as well as the normal West of England IETs running on the Berks & Hants route. Many of the usual freight workings have been cancelled but there was a rare opportunity for a daytime view of an intermodal intermodal service as Class 66/5 No. 66518 speeds through Hungerford in pouring rain with the lightly loaded London Gateway to Avonmouth West Wharf on 8th January 2022. Meanwhile three up IETs are nearby in convoy heading to the capital and hapless travellers from the town have had their shuttle DMU to Reading cancelled.
