A number of RVR (Riga Wagon Works) Class 32 EMU sets remain very much in service as confirmed here with set No. 32 069/32 070 captured at Sindel on 19th September 2022. A regular route for the type, the BDZ PP EMU has charge of service REG (14:30) Varna to Schuman. These units along with the similar Class 33 sets have covered millions of miles of journeys over most of the Bulgarian rail network. Ageing electrical wiring led to several fires and BDZ (Bulgarian State run Railway) was forced to say that it would withdraw the Class 32 and Class 33 sets. However, a shortage of stock meant that this could not be fully carried out. Never the less numbers have been greatly reduced but here we are in 2022 with more then just a few still operational. Sadly all six of the slightly later although similar Class 33 EMU sets were all retired by 2017.
