Bulgarias LINE 2 from Mezdra, Ruse and further east has very limited access at present with only one platform available for terminating services. As the platform is truncated mid-way along its length there is no provision for loco hauled services to terminate as locomotives cannot be released or run round. The result is that most loco-hauled services using the Iskar Gorge route are terminating at nearby Sofia Sever (Sofia North). Only EMUs are currently working through into Sofia Central station from that direction. Viewed from the western end RVR Set No. 32-125/32-126 departs with the five minute SUB20257 shuttle service to Sofia Sever. Waiting alongside to gain access to the platform area is SIEMENS EMUs 31-011/31-012 and 30-017/30-018 prior to working SUB20203 to Mezdra. This late afternoon image recorded on 28th September 2024.
