When Bulgarians alight from a train journey it is often the case of taking the shortest route home. So this scene of people wandering over the tracks at Lakatnik is not an uncommon one. SKODA 68E Class 44 No. 44-088 has arrived from the capital with BDZ train service ORD20171 (14:31) Sofia-Sever to Gorna Oryahovitsa on 27th September 2024. Situated deep within the Iskar Gorge Lakatnik station is surrounded by stunning high ground and is a very pleasant location to spend some time at with camera at the ready. This image was taken from the old goods dock, an excellent spot where one can park the car and wait in comfort while enjoying both the view and the Bulgarian sunshine.
