The industrialised area of the southwestern town of Pernik is clearly captured here in this image from 19th October 2024. Coal-fired power stations are still very much part of the Bulgarian landscape that have an insatiable appetite for coal. With engine ticking-over TBD TP Class 52 diesel shunter No. 52-020 waits for a rake of empty coal hoppers inbound from the south, presumably from the Bo-bov dol complex at Golemo Selo. TBD TP (Tovarni Prevozi) have a maintenance base at Pernik-Razpredelitelna for their gradually expanding diesel and electric locomotive fleets.
