On 25th November 2024, the day after storm Bert had caused travel chaos across the country, GWR are telling their customers not to travel after flooding and fallen trees had affected their major routes. Somerset has suffered badly but the regular 08:40 Merehead Quarry to Hanwell Bridge loop did manage to find a way through, albeit in somewhat depleted form at Hungerford with just 16 loaded wagons. Double-heading with Class 66/5 Nos. 66550 and 66554 is presumably a case of positioning locos rather than load-splitting as is often happens with this working.
