The sheer grandeur of the scenery that adorns the Settle and Carlisle line is well illustrated in this image recorded on 23rd September 2009. Northbound with THE FELLSMAN at Lunds Viaduct, LMS Black 5 No. 45231 heads for Carlisle running as the (08:07) from Lancaster. The former route of the long since closed line from Garsdale to Hawes is clearly visible in this view.
