Working a Plovdiv to Gorna Oryahovitsa service BDZ PP (Passenger Division) SKODA Class 44 No. 44 070 pulls into Iskar station on 22nd March 2024. Built in 1975 40-070 is a Gorna-based locomotive. Just visible in the far distance is the beginning of the single-line section to the east of the capital. The double-track main line between Sofia and Plovdiv is undergoing a complete rebuild and modernisation program with many parts of the route temporarily reduced to one track for bi-directional running. This work is not expected to be completed until 2024.
