Sofia-based Class 52 diesel-hydraulic shunter No. 52-288 is captured at Iliyantsi on 16th October 2023 while involved on numerous shunting manoeuvres around the station and adjacent yard. Alongside the distinctive bright green wagons of private freight operator TBD will be collected later in the afternoon by Skoda No. 44-143. This consist is split in two, out of sight behind the camera are an additional nine wagons. This is a necessary and regular practice at this location to allow the travelling public access from the station buildings (left) to the platforms on the far right. Walking between rakes of wagons to catch a train does seem very strange if not a tad uncomfortable!.
