One of a batch of seven BR Class 86 electrics acquired from the UK is captured here at Iliyantsi on 15th October 2024. Still very much active is 85-001 and still with the original 'Orion' nameplate. To avoid confusion with the former Danish Class 86 locomotives the British Class 86s were reclassified as Class 85 for use in Bulgaria; 85-001 previously numbered 86701 when in service on the UK railway network. From the seven locomotives acquired two examples, 86233 and 86234 were retained as spares donors but the remaining five continue to give good service in 2024.
