Ruse-based BULMARKET imported Class 87 No. 87-009 stands idle in Iliyantsi Yard on 11th May 2023. Exported from the UK it is good to see these venerable electric locomotives still active and playing an important role across the Bulgarian railway network. So much so that a further 16 Class 86 Bo Bo electrics have been purchased from the Freightliner Group. These locomotives will be overhauled at Express services near Ruse prior to entering service with a newly-established as yet unknown private operator.
