20th September 2008 was a glorious day on the Settle and Carlisle railway for THE SETTLE and TYNE VALLEY CIRCULAR charter. LMS Coronation Class Pacific No. 6233 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND continues the climb southbound across Mallerstang Common at Bull Gill towards the summit at Ais Gill. Operated by NENTA Tours this Norwich to Norwich circular tour was one of two steam charters to work the S&C that day, Pastime Rails THE PENNINE LTD having worked northbound earlier in the day returning south via the WCML with LMS Jubilee Class No. 5690 LEANDER in charge.
