A GFR Class 40/Class 87 sandwich is captured on the locomotive stabling point at Iliyantsi on 17th March 2023. Part Romanian owned BZK (Bulgarian Railway Company) operates locomotives in a variety of liveries as confirmed here. In Grup Feroviar Roman branding Electroputere Class 40 electrics 91 53 0401001-9 and 91 53 040 0817-9 more commonly known as 401001 and 40 817 have Class 87 electric No. 87812 tucked in-between them, the latter still carrying the Network South East livery in which it was exported in from the UK. Another import from the UK is just visible in the far distance, a BULMARKET Class 86 attached to a rake of LPG tanks.
