Direct Rail Services Class 37/0s Nos. 37259 and 37612 in 'top and tail formation' run westbound through Axminster with an infrastructure monitoring train on 24th July 2008. This view of the Salisbury to Warminster, via Exeter, was taken from the A35 overbridge at Abbey Gate prior to the reinstatement of the UP main line. Today this view is very different with the subsequent doubling of the track to form the three mile Axminster Loop and the erection of a radio mast in the immediate foreground, the latter so making it impossible to replicate this kind of composition ever again.
