Swiss-built (Winterthur 3593/1935) Class 2-8-2 No. 01.23 is part of the BDZ mainline steam pool and is captured running round its train at Kyustendil on 12th October 2019. Dating from 1935 this is an express locomotive, the plates on the cab-side telling us that the axles are 1-4-1 with a 17 Tonne maximum loading. The locomotive is based at Sofia from where it had worked a special charter to Kyustendil in the far southwest of the country.
