Telephoto lenses can be used to great effect as here with Colas Rail Freight Class 66/8 No. 66849 emerging from the stone walled cuttings on the final approach to Birkett Tunnel. Routed via the Settle and Carlisle line the Carlisle Yard to Chirk loaded logs is captured here on 27th September 2012. Twelve years later this log flow continues to operate on a regular basis but the 2024 motive power is now normally a Colas Class 70 although the occasional appearance of a Class 56 from time to time is not unheard of.
