Close to the border with Macedonia is the sizable town of Kyustendil which is served by the non-electrified branch from Radomir. This scene recorded on 12th October 2019, is busier then usual as BDZ PP Class 10 DMU set No. 10015/10016 pulls in with the branch stopper service from Radomir. BDZ steam charter from Sofia is the centre of attention and even in this extreme southwesterly part of Bulgaria has drawn in a substantial number of local onlookers. Steam charters from the capital to Radomir and along the branch to Kyustendil are not unusual although prior information and advertising of such runs leaves a lot to be desired. Sofia-based Swiss-built Mikado Winterthur 3593/1935 Class 2-8-2 No. 01.23 is the motive power for this day trip from the capital.
