A shortage of motive power in Bulgaria during 2017/2018 saw a number of BDZ (Bulgarian State run Railway) passenger duties worked by Skoda Class 61 electric shunter locomotives. At Sofia Zaharna fabrika on 23rd June 2018 No. 61008 has just begun it's journey south, a journey of some 2.5 hours in length with the mid-afternoon suburban service from Sofia Central to Dupnica. The pictured location, the first stop out of the city, was once the site of a massive sugar manufacturing facility, it's history reflected in the station name Zaharna fabrika which translated into English means Sugar Factory.
