With a southbound departure out of Velingrad the gradient steepens almost immediately just beyond the station limits as the climb to the 4,000 foot summit begins. Captured here, BDZ Rhodope Valley Railway No. 77009 is already hard at work before clearing the western suburbs of Velingrad while working the afternoon southbound service Ord 16105 from Septemvri to Dobrinishte on 12th June 2017.
