Apparently a BR build of a Victorian pre-Grouping design, Class J72 0-6-0T No. 69023 'JOEM' is put to work as banking engine for a NYMR departure from Grosmont with LMS 'Black 5' No. 45428 in the lead on 20th August 1985. The banker would have provided assistance on the challenging 1 in 49 climb to Goathland avoiding the original rope-worked incline.
