TBD TP SKODA 68E Class 44 No. 44-083 runs eastbound in western Bulgaria with a rake of loaded coal hoppers from the Beli-Breg mine close to the Serbian border. The date is 17th October 2017, and the image is taken from a road crossing situated at the western end of Kostinbrod station. Ensuring that the lights stay on, this section of line sees regular workings such as this maintaining the huge appetite for coal to Bulgarian power stations. The TBD operation is an in-house affair associated with supplying the massive Bobov Dol power complex at Golemo Selo in the southwest of the country. Gradual expansion has in recent times seen other destinations and contracts added to the workload of the steadily expanding TBD fleet of motive power.
