Midland Railway Compound 4-4-0 No. 1000 giving brake van rides on an open day at Dinting Railway Centre on 16th April 1979. The two larger outside low-pressure cylinders were complemented by a single inside cylinder taking the first stage high-pressure steam. on a bright Spring day the steam plume from the loco is casting an unhelpful shadow over the colourful Midland livery.
