The Year is still New and full of promise when Class 33 No. 33044 puts down the power pulling up the gradient away from High Wycombe with the discharged tanks fom Thame, returning to Fawley refinery on 7th January 1984. The remaining East signal box must still have many levers in spite of the loss of the branch to Maidenhead which left the main line at that point.
