The two preserved Beattie 2-4-0 well tanks were famous for their longevity, being withdrawn after nearly 90 years in service. 0298 Class No. 30585 was to be seen at work at Quainton 15 years after withdrawal from BR, during which time it was refurbished and returned to a pre-grouping identity as E0314. It is seen on the Brill branch side of station between turns on the demonstration line on 27th March 1977. An extraordinary-looking Aveling and Porter rail-mounted traction engine is also in view.
