To the south of the town, the box says Wellingborough Junction where the link line to the former LNWR Nene Valley route from Northampton to Peterborough diverged from the Midland main line south to the capital. Class 25/2 No. 25100 in tandem with Class 25/3 No. 25277 make their way back north to the midlands coalfields as for their next haul of 'black diamonds' on 10th May 1975. With signals cleared it would appear that the box is swithched out at this time.
