GWR Class 387 Electrostar EMU No. 387145 stands in the bay at Newbury having just arrived from Reading on 4th January 2019 in the first week of the new electric service on the Berks & Hants line, well clear of the four electrified through lines. This is currently the limit of electrification although the Class 800 series bi-modes are reportedly dropping their pantographs early at Thatcham to avoid any issues with the changeover of power to their on-board diesels.
