Bletchington was the original station for Woodstock, until that favoured destination (for Blenheim Palace) received is own GWR branch and much more convenient station. Running north from Oxford the main line to Banbury dices with the River Cherwell and Oxford Canal, crossing their serpentine progress numerous times. Bletchington station, not much nearer that village than Woodstock, was at one of these crossing points. Class 47/0 No. 47024 has just crossed the canal with an up express on 4th September 1976 and passes the derelict remains of the goods shed which May have dealt in the past with transfers between the canal and railway.
