One of four Class 87 electric locomotives imported from the UK for the private Bulgarian operator BULMARKET stands parked up at the head of a mixed freight at Ilijanci, a most interesting location situated on the northern outskirts of Sofia. Given its position, at some point 87017 has clearly arrived on the route from Mezdra, a scenic line that runs through the spectacular iskar Gorge. Despite the BULMARKET paintwork being a tad on the faded side Ruse-based 87017 Iron Duke is still very active as this image proves when taken on 4th September 2022.
