Class 66/6 No. 66606 runs easily through Hungerford on a cheerful Spring-like morning well ahead of time with the Merehead-Colnbrook stone train on 14th March 2022. The working had loaded to 30 wagons, about 3000 tonnes - such a load is usually allocated to the Class 59 fleet but this loco is one of the Class 66s with modified gear ratios providing higher tractive effort at a reduced maximum speed of 65mph - quite adequate for the 45mph of its schedule today.
