The Sofia Metro system is both modern clean and bright as is clearly evident here in this image taken on 14th June 2016. In 2022 three lines are now fully operational with a direct connection via Line 1 into Sofia International Airport. station ALEKSANDER MALINOV is situated on a short branch which leaves Line 1 at Mladost to serve the city's business park area to where this set from the later batch of units is heading. This later generation type of unit is designated type 81-740/741, known as 'Rusich'. Two separate batches of these train sets provide the mainstay of both Lines 1 and 2 which all share a common livery design of basic cream with additional colouring applied, blue, orange, green, red and purple having been observed.
