SNCF now operates AGC EMU and bi mode units right across France. Here, nearly new 27X No. 27900 which had been financed by Languedoc - Rousillion council is pictured on the French side of the station at Cerbere. It would shortly depart for the short trek through the tunnel in the background, over the border to Port Bou in Spain, before returning ecs to Cerbere. In an unusual method of operation, the Spanish trains run in from Port Bou on broad gauge track to a bay platform underneath the overall roof on the right, then run ECS back to Port Bou, the opposite way around to the French operation. The yard on the left held an assortment of French wagons, a much larger yard which has bogie changing facilities is also located at Cerbere, but not visible in this photograph.
