Due to the level crossing gates being replaced at Parkend on the Dean Forest Railway on 26th October it was necessary to shunt release trains, rather than running around in the normal way, allowing a short but nonetheless rare opportunity to ride behind the DFR's resident Class 08 No. 08769.
Here, the loco is resting in between duties at Parkend.
The railway's proposed onward extension deep into the Forest of Dean will eventually continue beyond the crossing gates pictured behind the locomotive
