Class 73s seen in the Midlands would have been a concept unheard of 20 years ago, however with their almost universal route availability, GB Railfreight hire a number of the rebuilt examples to Serco for operating test trains around the south of England. Hence the reason why Class 73s No. 73962 nearest the camera and No. 73963 at the other end of the train were stabled at Derby on this occasion.
