British Class 87 electric locomotives in Bulgaria continue to give good service in 2023 long after they were retired from the UK railway network. Iliyantsi is the preferred stabling point for the BZK (Bulgarian Railway Company) examples, not Pirdop since the ARUBIS contract was lost in favour of state-run BDZ TP. This scene at Iliyantsi taken on 11th October 2023 shows 87004 still in BR Blue livery and still carrying the original Britannia name plate. The Cryllic lettering on the side simply says Bulgarian Railway Company. It has however acquired an addition BZK logo on the No. 1 end lower cab side. Recently overhauled and repainted 87 029 is coupled up on the left hand side and 87 003 on the right.
