Recent reports suggest that the once considerable number of British built Class 87 electric locomotives present at Pirdop have been significantly reduced with the preferred stabling point now being Iliyantsi in Sofia. But despite this on 5th September 2022, two examples were captured parked up at Pirdop, 87-028 and 87-004 'Britannia'. Both carry BZK branding and body-side Cyrillic stickers reading 'Bulgarian Railway Company'. Coupled at the far end is BZK Romanian built 80-0067 dating from 1966 and constructed by the August 23 factory, Bucharest, one of two BZK examples in Bulgaria that are fitted with steam heating.
