Arriva Trains Wales' Class 150/2 No. 150229 departs from Cardiff Queen Street with a Treherbert to Barry island service. The overgrown platform on the far right has since been demolished and rebuilt as a new platform to serve trains heading towards Pontypridd and free up some capacity as the station has been a major bottleneck on the Valley Lines network for some years since service frequencies were increased due to significant growth in traffic.
