A truely depressing sight. On its last journey to the scrapyard, 'Warship' Class 42 diesel hydraulic No. D822 'Hercules' rests among other withdrawn hydraulic locomotives, at St Philips Marsh, Bristol, on 10th January 1972. It was withdrawn in October 1971 after a short service life of just eleven and a quarter years and was cut-up at Swindon Works during February 1972.
