Swindon Works built 0-6-0 diesel shunter No. D2138 at its home Depot of Gloucester Horton Road on 23rd June 1966. New in April 1960, the loco had a very short BR service life of just over 9 years, being withdrawn in June 1969. Luckily it was not scrapped, going on to work at Pye Hill Colliery until 1984, after which it was saved for preservation and is now located at the Midland Railway Centre.
