Some idea of the level of disruption at Sofia Central station can be gained in this view taken on 28th September 2024. Negotiating the limited single-track approach from the north-western side of the station is RVR EMU Set No. 32-125/32-126 arriving with the ORD20104 (14:20) Vraca to Sofia via Mezdra service. Much of the station area and approaches from both east and west are reduced to a massive re-construction site. Eventually the whole line from the Serbian border to Plovdiv and beyond to Turkey will be compatible with Western European standards.
