Iliyantsi station and yard is the location, looking south towards the Bulgarian capital City of Sofia dominated by the mighty Vitosha Mountain, still snow-capped when this image was taken on 15th March 2024. BDZ PP SKODA Class 44 No. 44-187, a very tidy example of the class enters the platform area northbound under the watchful eye of the station master. This is the FAST 2641 service that departed Plovdiv at 16:22 for Gorna Oryahovitsa via Sofia. Clearly visible on the extreme left of this image are a number of the imported UK Class 87 locomotives, this location now the favoured stabling point for these still very active electric locomotives.
