The section of line between Five Ways and Birmingham New Street boasts No. less than four tunnels which burrow beneath the streets of Birmingham. The four tunnels are Bath Row, Granville Street, Canal and Holiday Street. Here at Five Ways a Cross-Country 'Turbostar' DMU No. 170 369 exits Bath Row tunnel and passes alongside neat rows of arched retaining walls while powering a Nottingham Cardiff Central service on 22nd July 2017. The abandoned tunnel in the background once led to the Birmingham Central Goods station which closed in 1967.
