Shortly before receiving its name, Class 47 diesel electric No. 47575 passes Barnwood Junction, Gloucester, on 19th May 1985 with a Bescot - Gloucester New Yard freight working. New from Brush as No. D1770 in October 1964 and first allocated to Tinsley (41A), it became No. 47175 under TOPS in February 1974 and 47575 in March 1981. It was named 'City of Hereford' from June 1985 to June 1999. Following its withdrawal from service in February 2001 and a period in the EWS Heritage Fleet, it was purchased by Riviera Trains and stored. The loco was finally cut up by CF Booth of Rotherham during May 2010.
